With winter approaching, flu shots are available to the Tucson community at several locations throughout town.

Flu shots are recommended for people aged 6 months to 19 years old, pregnant women, people 50 years old or older, people with chronic medical conditions, people who live in long-term care facilities such as nursing homes, and those who live with or care for people who are at risk of contracting the flu, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Flu season in the United States typically peaks around January or February, but flu season lasts from October into the spring season, according to the CDC.

No shortages of vaccines are anticipated this year, with manufacturers predicting that anywhere from 143 to 146 million doses will be available, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
